The Beauty of God’s Church

“For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth” (Isaiah 62:1).

The study this quarter is on the subject of ‘The Church’. My heart’s desire is that every honest person would get a vision of the beauty of God’s true church. The majority of religious institutions and fellowships have watered down the truth so much that people need not “take up their cross daily” as the Lord taught. Serving the Lord is a narrow, holy way but it is a good way. It is the way that leads to power and victory. Allowing the reality of God’s church to be in our life and fellowship brings freedom and liberty to worship in “spirit and in truth.”Read more

Time Is Short

“Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown” (Revelation 3:11).

For a number of months I have been deeply moved in my spirit that our time here on earth is quickly coming to an end. I do not believe that the Lord will delay His coming much longer. The message of the coming of the Lord stirs within me.

I am reminded of the prophet, Jesus ben Ananias, who walked the streets of Jerusalem crying out of the impending doom of the city before God destroyed it. “Woe, woe to Jerusalem.” The people called him crazy and tried to silence him. The city seemed at peace and was experiencing prosperity, but he repeated the cry. “Woe, woe – A voice from the east, a voice from the west, a voice from the four winds, a voice against Jerusalem.…” He prophesied for seven years and five months. The prophecy was fulfilled and catastrophe came to Jerusalem. Read more

A Citizen in the Kingdom of God

“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32).

It is with thanksgiving that I worked on this issue of The Gospel Truth. I have walked through some of the lowest valleys of my life the last few months. While I am not completely out of the valley, God has given me the strength and fortitude to work on this publication – which I was incapable of doing a month ago. Through it all, the Lord has been with me even in the midnight hours. There were so many times I said, “Jesus, thank you for being my friend.” God has proven His love and power over and over again.Read more

I Love the Lord

“I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live” (Psalm 116:1-2).

As a very young child, I gave my heart to God and surrendered myself into His care. I vividly remember crying because of the conviction of the Holy Spirit on my life. I prayed with my mother in a back Sunday school room for Jesus to come into my heart. While I never went deep into sin, I needed the same saving grace of God in my life as the drug addict and the drunkard. As I grew and matured, I had some ‘spiritual growing pains’ and failures along the way–as do many who get saved at a young age. I never lost my desire to serve God and yet I made many trips to an altar of prayer as a young person. I thank God today for the faithfulness of the Spirit. As the song says, “The Spirit led unerring to the land I hold today.” I was and remain desperate for the daily presence of God in my life, for my way will lead me astray.Read more

The Experience of Salvation

My heart is full of thankfulness to be saved from sin through the blood of Jesus Christ. It is not of any goodness of my own but by God’s mercy that I am saved today. More important than the right interpretation of scripture and the theology of salvation is the personal, divine experience of salvation.  It brings such peace to be able to go to bed at night and know that my sins have been forgiven and that I am a child of God. There is such assurance in resting, not in my own ability, but in the saving, keeping power of our Saviour.  My desire and burden is that the study this quarter on salvation and sin will illuminate hearts and minds to the reality of the experience and expose the false teachings on this subject so prominent in our world.

I am thankful that this publication is currently being translated into Spanish and Swahili. We are looking to the Lord to provide translators for Chichewa and other languages. Lord willing, I will be making a missionary trip to Pakistan from October 23 – November 9. I would appreciate your prayers for every gospel endeavor. I encourage my fellow labors in the gospel to fight the good fight of faith. The battle is hot, but the victory is ours through Jesus Christ.
